Last week, I was on the hunt for a coffee table for our living room and found this beautiful Karena Teak Coffee Table on Pottery Barn’s website. While I fell in love with its farmhouse charm, that price? I don’t know about you, but $2,000 for a coffee table is a little steep. I’ve always been the kind of person who actively searches for the best deal, and if you clicked on my post, I’m sure you’re of the similar type. So what if I told you that you can make it yourself for less than $50 in lumber?
My plans make it easy, and with over $1,950 in savings, who couldn’t say yes to this beauty?
So let’s get started!

Tool List
Instructions
Step 1: Make the “X” Legs
Cut the 2 x 4 legs at 45 angles on both sides of the board. Make 4 of these and place them off to the side. Attach one of the 2 x 4 pieces to a bottom 2 x 6 board using drywall screws. Repeat for each leg.
Take the last 2- 2 x 4 leg pieces and cut them to form the other side of the “x” leg. You will need to split the board in half like in the images below. Repeat for each side. When finished, attach the leg pieces to both the top and bottom 2 x 6 boards using drywall screws.
Join the decorative footpads to the bottom boards using drywall screws.
Step 2: Make the braces
Fasten the two brace pieces. You will need one for the middle and top of the coffee table.
Step 3: Make the tabletop
Attach the coffee tabletop using pocket hole screws. I added breadboards to the tabletop for added style!
Step 4: Attach the base to the top
Connect the base to the top of the coffee table using drywall screws.
Step 5: Sand and add the finish
Lastly, sand your piece with 80 grit and 120 grit sandpaper and finish with paint or stain and 2 coats of polyurethane.
And there you have it! A $50 Pottery Barn inspired Karena Teak Coffee Table. Although it isn’t reclaimed lumber, with builds like this and with an estimated savings of $1,950, you could fill your home with more Modern Farmhouse inspired furniture in no time!
