Welcome to the creative ot woodshop
The modern farmhouse look FOR LESS
Hi there, I’m Laura—the self-taught carpenter, designer, and DIY connoisseur behind The Creative OT Woodshop. I’m so grateful you’re here!
I started the Creative OT Woodshop in March 2020 to share my creativity and to empower others that no matter their education level, they can design and build the Modern Farmhouse home of their dreams with limited tools and a limited budget.
I’ll be honest, in 2017, I had no idea where to start when it came to building furniture or home décor. But like many of you, I was a dreamer, creator, and homemaker who was ready for a change. And instead of filling my Pinterest boards with Modern Farmhouse designs I knew I couldn’t afford, in 2020, I decided to make them into a reality…..
What started as a hobby in 2017, led to a unique passion of design and woodworking where I started my own business in 2020. Since then, I started building furniture locally and honed in on my love of teaching to share my inspirations, creations, and tutorials on my blog to help other beginner woodworkers and designers just like you.
From furniture to home décor, I post weekly inspirational posts with detailed step-by-step tutorials and design how-to’s on my blog in the hopes of helping other self-taught carpenters and designers build their own Modern Farmhouse home elements. I draw inspiration from everywhere including Pottery Barn, Kirkland’s, West Elm, Crate and Barrel, and Restoration Hardware to show you that it is possible to create the look you love for less than half of retail.
You may be reading this and thinking that you’re not able, but I’m a firm believer that with just a touch of inspiration, motivation, and hard work, you too can make DIY home dreams a reality! So if you’re a power tool fanatic, curious crafter, or budget-friendly person wanting to turn your home into a Modern Farmhouse catalog for less—then you’ve made it to the right place, sweet friend!
XOXO, Laura
